VICTORINOX successful against product piracy at CeBIT
VICTORINOX waged its first extensive campaign against product piracy at CeBIT this year. Seven infringements were registered in total. The action only affected companies from Asia.

VICTORINOX took legal action to seize copies of the ’Classic? pocket knife with integrated USB memory stick.
Two exhibitor stands had to be completely cleared by the bailiff with support from the police. In other cases, the copies and advertising materials were confiscated or parts of these blackened out.

This is the second time that VICTORINOX has been successful against product piracy at trade fairs this year, after the action taken at ’Ambiente? in Frankfurt, where 4 infringements were registered.

Having been increasingly plagued by product piracy over the last few months, VICTORINOX decided to take consequent action to protect the jobs of its employees in Switzerland.
VICTORINOX has been producing pocket knives since 1884 in Ibach-Schwyz, with a total workforce today of 900.

The copies, which are often of a poor quality, not only threaten the jobs in Switzerland, but also the excellent reputation that original VICTORINOX products enjoy on the market.

VICTORINOX took action against the offending companies in cooperation with lawyers and a company specialising in product piracy. The speed of the action was remarkable - in just three days, those responsible for the piracy were identified and legal action was organised, served and executed.
